Comparative characteristic of gastrointestinal tract development and digestibility of nutrients in young chickens, ducks and geese
نویسنده
چکیده
The rate of development of digestive tract and its functions in different poultry species, with special attention given to ducks and geese were investigated. These works were being realised simultaneously in the same environmental conditions and with birds at the same age. Significant inter-species differences in the rate of digestive tracts development, in digestibility of amino acids and structural substances as well as in fermentation of NSP polysaccharides and its consequences in energy utilisation indicate that the faster development and reaching of digestive maturity, especially in the case of amino acids, was observed in chickens. In waterfowl the tendency of better both digestibility of structural carbohydrates and energy utilisation from NSP was stated.

Effect of Some Acidifiers on Gastrointestinal Tract Characteristics and Performance of Broiler Chickens
The effects of Selko-pH (S; 1 mL/L drinking water); Termin-8 (T; 2 kg/ton feed) and Neogermicin (N; 2 L/ton feed) on gastrointestinal tract (GIT) pH, microbial population, ileal digestibility and broiler performance were investigated. The lowest feed intake (FI) was attained by chickens fed diets supplemented with S group in all periods (P
متن کاملHormones and Metabolism in Poultry
Poultry are domesticated species of birds. Birds were domesticated for eggs (chickens, ducks and geese), meat (chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, ostriches, emus, pigeons and game birds) or other uses including feathers (ostriches, ducks and geese), leather (ostriches), specific oils (ostriches, emus), cock-fighting (chickens) and homing (pigeons). Table 1 summarizes the approximate time when and...
متن کاملDevelopmental basis for telencephalon expansion in waterfowl: enlargement prior to neurogenesis.
Some altricial and some precocial species of birds have evolved enlarged telencephalons compared with other birds. Previous work has shown that finches and parakeets, two species that hatch in an immature (i.e. altricial) state, enlarged their telencephalon by delaying telencephalic neurogenesis. To determine whether species that hatch in a relatively mature (i.e. precocial) state also enlarged...
متن کاملEffect of graded levels of rapeseed oil in isonitrogenous diets on the development of the gastrointestinal tract, and utilisation of protein, fat and energy in broiler chickens.
The effect of feeding 0, 4, 8 and 16% rapeseed oil from 12-42 days of age was studied in broiler chickens on performance, digestibility of nutrients, and development of gastrointestinal tract, protein and energy metabolism. Thirty six female chickens (Ross 208) with initial body weight average 246 g were allocated to the four groups and kept pair-wise in metabolism cages. The chickens were fed ...
متن کاملThe effect of Dietary Fiber Source and Threonine Level on Growth Performance, Nutrients Digestibility and Digesta Characteristics of Broiler Chickens in a Period of 24 Days
The aim of this study was to survey the effect of different dietary fiber source and thereonine levels on growth response, nutrients digestibility and some digesta characteristics of broiler chickens. A total of 180 day-old male Ross 308 chicks were used in a completely randomized design with a factorial arrangement of 2×3 with 4 replicates of 6 birds each for a period of 24 days. The diets co...
